Mekenna ThurberTrainer

Mekenna Thurber was born and raised in Reno, NV. From a young age Mekenna was heavily involved in softball, basketball, volleyball and skiing. Once she began to focus her attention on softball, she also started tagging along to her older brother’s personal training sessions at Max Results. It was there that she first witnessed and then participated in the discipline and structured work that went into being a successful athlete. She then ran with this process of strength training and combined it with Del Bates agility and speed training. It was during this period, when Mekenna was about 12 that she made a lasting connection with Camie Cragg.

As a results of this hard work and dedication, Mekenna became a high level competitive softball player. First playing on successful local travel teams and then transitioning to elite level local and California teams. She eventually became a 4 year varsity for McQueen High School and received college attention. During her junior year of high school she sustained severe head and leg injuries at the beginning of her softball season. However, she did what she knew and applied her fitness knowledge in conjunction with a great physical therapy team and was able to return to the softball season just 6 weeks later. Because of this experience, Mekenna developed a passion for the process of rehabilitation and a quest for knowledge as to how the body works. When offered a scholarship to Holy Names University, she combined a love for softball and interest in rehab/athletic training and earned a degree in Kinesiology/Sports Biology.

Upon completion of college, Mekenna moved to Bend, OR where she worked with ALS patients and student athletes with brain injuries. After an extended absence from her hometown, Mekenna returned to participate in the wonderful opportunities that exist in our area. She has rejoined the local softball community through coaching and teaching private skill lessons. And has joined CCF which has allowed her to reconnect with Camie through the Project C program. She is thrilled to be a part of CCF and is looking forward to working with you!
